Your Privacy is Sacred
Aunty Mimi was designed from day one with one rule: your health is your business, not ours.
TL;DR
We don't know who you are and we're not trying to find out. Your health conversations are private. Full stop.
1. What We Collect
Almost nothing. We do not collect:
- Names or surnames
- Phone numbers
- Email addresses
- National Registration Card (NRC) numbers or any national IDs
- Any other personally identifiable information
The AI chat is fully anonymous. No account is required to use any feature on this platform. You remain a stranger to us — and that is exactly how we want it.
2. What Stays on Your Device
The following data is stored only in your browser's localStorage — it never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers:
Health Tracker
Periods, pills, mood logs
Appointment Refs
Booking reference numbers
Community Posts
Posts you author locally
Important: We cannot see this data. If you clear your browser data or use a different device, this information will be lost. Consider this before relying on it for long-term tracking.
3. Session Data
Each chat session generates a random session ID solely for conversational continuity within that browser tab. Think of it as a temporary notepad that Mimi uses to remember what you said earlier in the same conversation.
Session ID expires when you close the tab
No session data is stored server-side
4. The AI Chat
Your questions are sent to Google Gemini API to generate Aunty Mimi's responses. Google processes this text to produce an answer and their privacy policy governs that processing.
On our end:
- We do not log or store your questions
- We do not associate your questions with any identity
- We do not share your questions with any third parties (other than Google Gemini as described)
5. Analytics
We use Plausible Analytics — a privacy-first, cookieless analytics tool built in Europe.
What Plausible measures:
- Page views and session counts
- Approximate country of visit (no city-level tracking)
- Does NOT track individual users
- Does NOT use cookies
- Does NOT require GDPR or POPIA consent banners
- Does NOT collect any personal data
We use these aggregate statistics solely to understand which features are most helpful to our community.
7. Crisis Situations
If you are in a crisis and use our emergency call features, those calls are placed directly by your phone's native dialer using standard tel: links.
We do not intercept, record, or log these calls in any way. Your call goes directly to the emergency service. If you need immediate help, please call 990 or 116 (Zambia GBV Helpline).
8. Children
Ask Aunty Mimi is designed for users aged 15 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 15.
If you are under 15, please use this platform with a trusted adult — a parent, guardian, teacher, or another adult you feel safe with. Health questions at every age deserve safe answers.
9. Your Rights (POPIA & GDPR)
Under Zambia's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and the EU's GDPR, you have rights over your personal data. You have the right to:

Know what data we hold
Correct
Fix inaccurate data
Delete
Request erasure
Your right to deletion is automatically satisfied.
Since we hold no personal data about you on our servers, there is nothing to delete from our end. Your localStorage data can be deleted at any time by clearing your browser data.

10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our platform evolves. When we do:
- The revised date will be updated at the top of this page
- Material changes will be announced directly on the platform
- We will never introduce data collection practices that contradict our core privacy commitment without clear, prominent notice
